GPFA Celebrates The International Day of the Girl Child

Global theme: With Her:  A Skilled Girl Force

Local theme: Prepared Girls Transformed WorkForce

Girls face discrimination and violence every day across the world. The International Day of the Girl Child focuses attention on the need to address the challenges girls face and to promote their empowerment and fulfillment of their human rights.

There is overwhelming evidence that girls’ education, especially at the secondary level, is a powerful transformative force for the society and girls themselves. It is the one consistent positive determinant of a desired development outcome. From reduction in high mortality and low fertility rates, to poverty reduction and equitable growth, to social change and democratization, the Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa is committed to empowering young women and girls to reach their full potential. With our 87 female scholars, the Gbowee Peace Foundation helps promote a skilled girl force by not just paying school tuition but by taking a ‘360 degree’ approach we also invest in whole person.

With integrity as our foundation, we believe that economic prosperity and betterment of humanity is possible through peace, passion for community engagement, education and collaboration.
