2024 Climate Change Education Survey of Liberia
West Africa’s environmental crisis—from Mali’s deserts to Senegal’s vanishing coasts—has placed Liberia at a critical juncture, where climate change and poverty collide. Over 60% of Liberia’s population is under 25, yet this vulnerable generation faces escalating threats without the tools to act. This study of 910 Liberian youth (aged 13–25) in Montserrado and Margibi Counties exposes a urgent disconnect: while 77% of students want to combat climate change, systemic gaps in knowledge, risk perception, and actionable skills hinder progress.
